Vintage “Montblanc Classic” Fountain Pen-Black-Cartridge Filler-Germany 1980s. Back in 1906 a Hamburg banker, Alfred Nehemias and a Berlin engineer, August Eberstein recognised the signs of time and decided to produce simplicissimus pens. After a short period of time Wilhelm Dziambor, Christian Lausen and later Claus Johannes Voss took over the business and thus laid the foundation for the future internationally successful company Montblanc. Their first model was the “Rouge et Noir” in 1909 followed in 1910 by the pen that was later to give the company its new name: “Montblanc”. The name Meisterstück (“Masterpiece” for export) was used for the first time in 1924, for the top lines of fountain pens. The number “4810, ” the mountain’s height in meters, is also a commonly recurring theme. Cap band imprint: Montblanc Germany. Nib material: 14 karat gold. I reckon the nib size is medium but I can’t be 100% sure. Size capped: approximately 5.3. Country of manufacture: Germany. Estimated time of production: 1980s. Optical condition: shows clear traces of wear and scratches. Technical condition: the cartridge-filling mechanism is in working order. Comes with Montblanc papers and a Montblanc ink cartridge. Also included: an unbranded leather pen pouch. Please enlarge all of the photos and make up your own mind of the overall condition. Please keep in mind that this is an estimate.
